Media Pre-Production Research: Conventions
Research into the conventions of music magazines is very helpful and beneficial to my final product as it gives me detailed information on what i need to include on/in my magazine. I am made aware of the 'musts' for my magazine if I want it to look proffesional and have conventional features. Further understanding of the codes and conventions of magazines can be seen in my post analysis of exisiting.
Media Pre-Production Research: Typical Reader Profile
This is my typical reader profile. It gives an example of the kind of girls that will read my magazine. This has helped me gain more information surrounding the needs of my audience on a more personal level as well as giving me ideas on what to include in/on the magazine. I have also established the psychographic needs of my audience. My audience fit into the group 'aspires' which i have chosen based on my previous and current research.
Media Pre-Production Research: Target Audience Research
Deciding what research methods to take.
After weighing the advantages and disadvantages of all of the methods I have decided to choose the questionnaire method in order to get reliable and accurate results surrounding my target audience. I have chosen this method because it can be easily distributed and the results are clear. I will be handing the questionnaire out to year 7-year 10 girls at my school as well as some young female friends who go to different schools. The questionnaire can be seen in the Prezi below along with some of the results shown through graphs. Although my questionnaire is fairly short I feel i gain enough information I need to help me mould my magazine around my audience.
Target audience research allows me to gain a good insight into the audience of my magazine which is a vital aspect when producing my magazine. To gain accurate information surrounding my audience, I created a questionnaire for young girls aged 9-15 (my target audience) to complete. The graphs give evidence of some results I got that are very beneficial to me as they give me a good understanding of my audience's needs.
