Evaluation: Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the processes of constructing this product?

During this process I have used a variety of different software/technologies in the process of creating my final product. I mainly used adobe in design to create the majority of my magazine, however I also incorporated adobe photo shop into some parts of the process, eg- editing photos and superimposition. I decided to use adobe in design for the majority of the magazine as I found it easier to work with in terms of creating the general layout. I used photo shop for more technical things like editing the photos and adding superimposition etc to my magazine, I found that there are a wider range of tools to use when creating the masthead of my magazine, it is also easier to edit your photo's on photo shop due to the fact there are more curve levels you can experiment with.

Above are images i edited using Photoshop to make them look more professional and give the illusion of professional lighting that I didn't actually use.

Above is evidence of me creating my masthead using Photoshop, I experimented with many different fonts, colours and sizes using the wide range of tools available, however this was the masthead i chose for my final product.

This is an image showing how i created the majority of my magazine on adobe in design- particularly the double page spread as i found it easier laying out the page in a professional and organised way.

As you can see on my blog I have used a range of different technologies to present my work on each post.  This has allowed me to develop and learn about new online presenting techniques which i feel will be very beneficial to me in the future. I have learnt how to use technologies like slide share, prezi, glogster, scribd and author stream- some of which were very new to me.

evidence of me using prezi

Overall this how process has benefited me throughly in developing and learning about new technologies. I am now very confident when using adobe in design and photoshop which will be extremely beneficial to not only my future media work, but for my future career paths. I am now able to present my work on different platforms instead of just powerpoint which is also very beneficial to me as I am able to make my work look more interesting and proffesional. Using blogger has allowed me to understand the basics of managing a blog a skill that I didn't have before. Lastly, I have developed my skills on photgraphy, i am very pleased with the outcomes of my photographs and it has made me very confident in taking pictures of which i am very pleased about.

evaluation question 2

Evaluation: Question 1

Production: Justin Bieber photo

I opened up the website pizap.com and pressed start.

I firstly clicked on edit photo.

I then selected upload which opened up my own files.

I selected the image of Justin Bieber I wanted

The image opened and i selected the cut out tool just above the image

I selected the photo i wanted to cut out and started painting the parts i wanted to keep in the image

I kept doing this until the image was fully painted. I then selected finish.

This automatically placed the image on top of the Justin Bieber image making it look as if they are together.

This is the final outcome of the photo, I decided to make it black and white to make it look more realistic as the colours beforehand were the biggest issue in making it look real.

Production: Message from the editor

To ensure my contents page is suitable for my audience I have researched a couple of 'messages from the editors' from other magazines that share a similar audience to mine.

These are good examples that give me good ideas for my own message from the editor. It should be engaging and suitable for a young person to read and understand. The name of the editor written at the bottom of the letter is a very conventional feature which i will use in my own work. It makes the writing seem more personal and to some extent down to earth.

My own message from the editor.

Production: Puffs

Puffs or blurbs are small images or pieces of text that aim to attract readers to the magazine. I used small bubble puffs to anchor the pop music genre and name of the magazine ' bubble pop', i also used musical notes of which again anchor the musical side of the genre. I feel that puffs are very effective in adding an extra touch to a magazine that appeal to the audience completely. I used puffs in this project to make the cover look more interesting and over the top like other young female targeted audience magazines. The bubble puffs are a fluent part of the magazine which I think creates a very consistent feel the magazine. I got the images of the puffs online as evident below

After saving both images, they are now ready to be placed around the magazine  by opening them up in adobe Photoshop on top of the main image. These can be seen in my final piece ( at top of page).

Production: Colours

Colours are an extremely important aspect of magazines, especially for younger audiences as they are attracted to brightly coloured things. Because my magazine is targeted at females only I have decided to go for a strong pink and purple tone throughout my magazine with hints of bright neon colours like orange and green.

Production: Cover + Sub stories

Production: Superimposition

Superimposition is when the main image of the magazine is in front of the masthead. This is a very conventional feature that can be seen on a wide range of media products in today market. The effect can be made on adobe photo shop using the magic wand tall.

Outcome after process showing superimposition and some other features ready to be editied again on adobe photoshop.
